Maine Green Power now offers the opportunity to support local renewable energy right on our electric bill.

Powered by Mainers, for Mainers!

Green power projects that are eligible to supply renewable energy to Maine Green Power include:

  • Solar photovoltaic systems
  • Hydroelectric projects that meet state and local fish passage requirements
  • Wind turbines
  • Biomass facilities that use wood, wood waste, landfill gas or agricultural biogas
  • Tidal power projects
  • Geothermal projects
  • Fuels cells that use landfill gas or agricultural biogas
To learn more, stop by the south end Community Room during this Saturday's market or visit them in the interwebs at www.megreenpower.com

Married with Chitlins, Chris and Liz Lannon will keep us entertained with their toe-tappin' tunes! Liz is selling CD's so be sure to pick one up.

Happenings @ the Freight Shed: Market Morning February 1, 2014

This Saturday at the Bath Farmers Market, visit the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s table to learn about the fun array of upcoming events. Specifically, the 4th Annual Winter Read, a community book discussion group.

This season’s selection is  Taste, Memory: Forgotten Foods, Lost Flavors, and Why They Matter by local author, David Buchanan.

The reader joins gardeners, preservationists, environmentalists, farmers, and cooks on a journey to rediscover the role of forgotten varieties of food in our farming fields and at our dinner tables. It’s a fascinating read that brings together the author’s love of food, farming, and discovering New England’s unique agricultural and culinary history.

Good energy

 Farmers Market on December 28th

Chipping away at ice inside and out Saturday could have been disheartening but the volunteers who assembled to help and the stream of sympathetic market supporters, helped keep our spirits up!

The farmers market had to be cancelled. Too many vendors struggling with record breaking temperatures, ice storm repairs, power outages topped off by an other snow storm. After days of frigid temperatures our bathroom waterline burst.

This event has clarified our need for an insulated mechanical space, new water line entry, designated space for the sprinkler system and a hot water heater (an Important ingredient for a future kitchen). This extra cold weather has forced the issue but it will help insure that we have a fully functional facility in the future.

The next Bath Freight Shed Alliance meeting will be on January 15th at the Inn at Bath. Our next Hands On Friday will be on January 10th 1PM until 3PM.  We could use your help with some general cleaning and weatherproofing. Please let us know via email ( bathfreightshed@gmail.com) if you can attend.

Thank you for your continued support!

Calling all Volunteers! Work Day at the Freight Shed this Sunday, July 28th.

This Sunday, July 28th, we could use some help clearing out the south end from Noon to 3pm.

Higmos will be delivering the lumber for the new floor in the south end on Monday and will be installed during next week. So, we need to be ready and could really do with some helping hands!

Tasks include:

Move picnic tables outside, carpet rolls in the gallery, folding chairs in the gallery
If possible it would be great if we could...
Paint kitchen and ticket booth room ceilings, complete the interior wood walls fix the south end door, finish railing
Please let us know if you can make it! (or if there is another time that is better for you)

Thanks!

Thank you for making the Mayfair Yard sale a resounding success!

A huge THANK YOU to Maine's First Ship (MFS) and Gayla Teague, Joanne Luneau and Merry Chapin for their tremendous generosity in running the May Fair Yard Sale!

They raised close to $800 and shared their enthusiasm for this special place and the MFS/BFSA collaboration with many Freight Shed visitors on Saturday.

Thanks to all the people who donated great items for the sale - your donations became funds which will go directly into paying down what we owe on our new roof. The Freight Shed also now has a great collection of dishes, mugs and flat ware that came in during the last few winter markets.
